According to Euroconsult’s latest research, “Prospects for Space Exploration”, global government investment in space exploration totalled nearly US$ 20 billion in 2019, a 6% increase year-on-year. Thirty-one countries and space agencies lead this global investment with the U.S. accounting for 71% of spending.

Further driving the March 2020 VOD viewing surge is that in reaction to this unprecedented situation, studios shifted some of their big screen content to on-demand platforms.
Eastern Europe will add nearly 10 million digital pay TV subscribers between 2019 and 2025 to take its total to 77 million. However, the region still had 15.4 million analog cable subscribers by end-2019 according to Digital TV Research.
Simon Murray, Principal Analyst at Digital TV Research, explained: “The number of pay TV subscribers in Eastern Europe will decline from 83 million in the peak year of 2018 to 78 million in 2025. Migration married with low birth rates mean that populations will fall in 14 of the 22 countries that we cover between 2019 and 2025.”
The transition of the video industry from traditional TV to OTT and IPTV is impacting on satellite service providers’ video revenues. At the same time, it has also created opportunities for the satellite companies to innovate and experiment by integrating satellite solutions in various video market verticals.
Despite the negative impact from the coronavirus and the Chinese economic downturn, Asia Pacific will have 417 million SVOD subscriptions by 2025, up from 269 million in 2019. China will have 269 million SVOD subscriptions in 2025 – or 65% of the region’s total. India will supply a further 45 million – more than double its 2019 total according to Digital TV Research.
Satellite-connected internet of things (IoT) devices are expected to rise to more than 10 million by 2025, according to Omdia.
