RF-Design Launches New L-Band Switch/Routing Matrices

Bensheim, Germany, December 3, 2013 —RF Design has unveiled its latest FlexLink K4 ideal for flexible signal assignment and perfectly suited for RF-distribution applications in teleports, satellite earth-stations as well as broadcasting and CATV/IPTV facilities.

The FlexLink K4 features a professional, flexible and scalable L-Band switch-matrix system that can be configured from 4:4 to 128:128 inputs/outputs (expandable in increments of 4) while both the Master-, and Slave-chassis can be equipped with up to 32:32 inputs/outputs.

The FlexLink K4 performs as a L-Band switching/routing platform where any input can be switched/routed to any or all outputs. It is designed for today´s and future signal management requirements and offers maximum in flexibility. It is also space saver and cost efficient and its L-Band signal management solution consumes very low power and has excellent RF-performance.

All matrix boards (input/output switch-boards) are hot-swappable and equipped with cascading in- and output interfaces allowing the expansion of the system at any time without the need of any other additional devices. Thus the system allows the users to expand as they grow. Furthermore the system supports the in- and outputs with 50 Ohm, 75 Ohm and Fiber-optic connectors. (Note: Optical connectors only for input switchboards).

Due to its modular design, various in- and output configurations from 4:4...32:32 (4RU/19") to 128:128 are possible and easily expandable in increments of 4. Therefore various in- output configurations (like 4:8, 8:16, 16:16, 32:32, 32:48, 32:64, 64:96:128:128...) are available.

This L-Band switch-matrix system assures excellent and stable RF performance, especially at Isolation and frequency response while it also features gain-control and 1:1 power-supply redundancy (hot-swappable). Local access and configuration can be realized via the master-chassis 8" touch-screen LC-Display while remote access and configuration can be done via its ethernet-interface (http, SNMPv2c).

RF Design has also unveiled its stand-alone 8:24 L-Band Switch-Matrix FlexLink S2A. The new FlexLink S2A in 1RU/19" design is a stand-alone 8:24 L-Band Switch Matrix for today’s and future L-Band signal management applications. It allows to switch/route up to 8 independent inputs to up to 24 outputs without limitations and interferences while all combinations are freely configureable.

The FlexLink S2A is equipped with a front-side LC-Display and keypads for user-friendly local configuration. Remote access and configuration can be done via its ethernet-interface (http/WEB-GUI, SNMP).

The FlexLink S2A is an efficient, reliable and space saving solution for today´s and future L-Band signal management applications. It allows to switch/route up to 8 independent L-Band signals up to 24 outputs without limitations and interferences (any input can be routed to one or all outputs) while all combinations of in- and outputs are freely configureable locally and remotely.

The FlexLink S2A is an ideal platform for flexible assignment of L-Band signals and perfectly suited for integration in teleports, satellite earth stations, up- and downlink facilities as well as broadcasting and CATV/IPTV architectures. The unit features RF input signal monitoring, RF power detection, 1:1 power-supply redundancy (hot-swappable) and LNB-supply while it assures excellent and stable performance during operation with superior RF performance and signal quality.

The FlexLink S2A is equipped with a front-side LC-Display and keypads for user-friendly local configuration. Remote access and configuration can be done via its rear-side ethernet-interface (http/WEB-GUI, SNMP) while it can also be integrated into a management and control system via SNMP.

The new products are developed by RF-Design, which manufactures professional RF-distribution solutions serving the international satellite-, broadcast- and broadband communications industry.
