Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Awarded US$ 2.3 Million Advanced VSAT and Premium Services Order to Support Satellite Network in Asia

Melville, NY, October 21, 2014--Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ:CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary Comtech EF Data Corp. was awarded a US$ 2.3 million order for its Advanced VSAT satellite networking platform, including the NetVue™ Integrated Management System and the premium service package,ESS Prime. A systems integrator will deploy the platform to support both fixed and mobile sites in Asia for an end user that requires mission-critical, high throughput bi-directional connectivity.

The Advanced VSAT represents the next generation in satellite networking equipment, leveraging the continued thought leadership of Comtech EF Data's advanced technologies. Advanced VSAT was chosen over competing alternatives due to the level of processing power needed to support the end user's transmission requirements. The end user required support for high data rate applications and voice today and also needed headroom to support future throughput demand. Purpose-built and future-ready, Advanced VSAT is a fully managed system that has the intelligence to enable dynamic allocation of bandwidth network-wide when and where needed, which is ideal for networks with a combination of fixed and mobile sites. In addition, it has the underlying resiliency to meet the stringent jitter and latency requirements of the most crucial applications. Add in the use of the most efficient modulation and coding available in the market today, Advanced VSAT has become the platform of choice to support the most demanding satellite networks on traditional wide beams, new High Throughput Satellite (HTS) spot beams, or a combination of both.

The NetVue™ Integrated Management System, leveraging an intuitive graphical user interface, serves as the user-friendly front-end of the Advanced VSAT platform. It provides a single robust, comprehensive network management and analytics engine that will allow the systems integrator to maximize the use of its resources, ensure network uptime and provide the elevated levels of service that are required in the field to support fixed and remote sites. NetVue™ will provide immediate insight into user-defined key performance indicators along with the traffic and trend analysis that will ensure resource utilization is maximized, potential congestion is addressed and the network is optimized - all key to ensuring that resources are intelligently allocated across the mission-critical network.

To support the design, implementation and ongoing optimization of the integrated satellite network infrastructure, the premium support service, ESS Prime, was specified in the order. As end-user demands and cost pressures continue to increase, consultation with satellite networking experts teamed with 24x7 engineering support to ensure a network is optimal has become a necessity. The ESS Prime service is backed by a team of seasoned satellite network engineers who have designed, implemented and optimized networks around the world and leverage this expertise daily to shepherd users to the best solution.

"Premium enterprise network users require astounding levels of throughput to support mission-critical applications today and must implement solutions that are designed for the future," commented
Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp. "This systems integrator adopted the Advanced VSAT networking solution based on its efficiency, horsepower and intelligence, and is leveraging our ESS Prime support team as an outreach of their own organization to ensure they provide the most optimal network possible," he added.
