Thuraya Appoints Ahmad Al Shareef as Head of Human Resources and Support Operations

Dubai, UAE, January 8, 2014--Mobile Satellite Services (MSS) operator Thuraya today announced the appointment of Ahmad Al Shareef as Senior Director of Human Resources and Support Operations as of January 2, 2014. As Thuraya’s new Head of Human Resources, Al Shareef is responsible for managing employee relations as well as overseeing the procurement and administration divisions. He reports to Samer Halawi, Chief Executive Officer of Thuraya and will serve as a member of the company’s leadership team.

Al Shareef is a skilled Human Resources executive with significant experience in asset management and financial institutions in the UAE. His background includes working with senior executive teams to ensure that the Company accomplishes its business plans over the short, medium and long term. He has worked in close collaboration with management teams on organizational optimization and alignment, improving employee relations, and talent retention.

Al Shareef joins Thuraya from a local asset management entity where he was their Director of Human Resources. A UAE National, fluent in English and Arabic, Al Shareef holds a Bachelor of Computer Systems Engineering (CSE) from Boston University.
