SSPI to Award Scholarship to Deserving Student During the Event

Long Beach, Calif., May 15, 2013-- SpaceTech Expo (www.spacetechexpo.com ) the West Coast’s premier space industry event, has increased the free seminars and sessions available to its attendees by expanding its free-to-attend Satellite & Space Summit and Open Tech Forum.  “Against the backdrop of tough travel budgets for industry and government, we want to offer unrivalled value to the spacecraft and launch industry,” says Guy Harris, Event Director for Space Tech Expo 2013. “That is why on top of our premium Space Tech Conference for C-level business people, we have expanded the free-to-attend Satellite & Space Summit, and free Open Tech Forum.”

The three-day, free-to-attend Satellite & Space Summit (http://www.spacetechexpo.com/satellite-and-space-summit-2013) will offer discussions about innovation in the satellite sector, future directions in launch services, affordable access to space, applications, software, testing, components, and materials.

The Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI) Southern California Chapter will be presenting the SSPI Southern California Scholarship during the Satellite & Space Summit 12:10 pm session on May 21.

The scholarship will be awarded to Louie Alcantara  Donesa  by Bobby Stevens, National Sales Manager for The Space Connections, Inc. and President of the Southern California Chapter of SSPI. The summit is available to registered attendees of Space Tech Expo.


The SSPI Southern California Scholarship is given to an individual who is currently an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in the Southern California University System. Eligible applicants must be in the satellite communications or related field of study and meet rigorous academic and other standards.

Mr. Donesa is enrolled in the Astronautical Engineering program at UCLA Extension. Since joining Interorbital Systems, a satellite kit developer and rocket manufacturing company, in 2012 as an Aerospace Engineer, Mr. Donesa has worked on orbital elements, launch crew training, and the trajectory analysis of Interorbital's NEPTUNE family of orbital launch vehicles. In addition to sourcing components for the CubeSat and TubeSats programs, Mr. Donesa commutes to Mojave daily, a nearly 200-mile round trip to his full-time engineering duties with Interorbital. His studies are graduate level Aerospace Engineering courses at UCLA.

Space Tech Expo is a B2B exhibition for the design, test and build of satellite, spacecraft, launch vehicle and space-related technologies.
