Rethink Technology Research’s Rethink TV service has launched a new report which shows how Direct to Home satellite TV (DTH) subscriber falls will accelerate and spread from North America to Europe and eventually to the Far East. Where subscribers numbers rise there will be falls in ARPU.
The new report is entitled, “Who benefits as Global DTH revenue set to shed $ billions – Forecast to 2024” and it is part of the Rethink TV series of forecasts, sold by Rethink as a subscription service.

Pay TV revenues in Eastern Europe will peak at US$ 6.95 billion in 2019 - before slowly falling to $6.59 billion by 2024. According to Digital TV Research, analog cable revenues will drop by US$ 844 million over this period, so digital pay TV revenues will increase by US$502 million to US$6.56.
The number of subscription video on demand (SVOD) subscriptions [for movies, linear channels and TV episodes - excluding other platforms such as sports services] in North America will climb by 110 million from 160 million in 2018 to 270 million in 2024.
According to Digital TV Research forecasts, these figures are gross as many homes take more than one SVOD platform.
