Newtec and MEASAT will be hosting a a world premier at the CommunicAsia show next week of  satellite transmission of 4K UHDTV video distributed using the new DVB-S2X transmission standard. The extensions to the DVB-S2 standard, a new specification developed by DVB including Newtec, called DVB-S2X, will be instrumental for the satellite industry to keep pace with demands for new features and increased efficiency.

The modems will be deployed to support mission-critical communications associated with a major military program.

Tempe, Ariz.,  June 2, 2014--Comtech EF Data has been awarded US$ 1.0 million in follow-on equipment orders from a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) in Africa in the three months to the end of April. The equipment will be used for a network upgrade that will transport and optimize voice and data communications, and facilitate subscriber growth across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Madrid, Spain,  May 30, 2014--Spanish satellite communications operator HISPASAT will provide satellite capacity for MEO Ultra HD’s live broadcast in Ultra High Definition (UHD) of the soccer match pitting Portugal against Greece on May 31. This match, in the run up to the World Cup to be held in Brazil this summer, will be sent out live from the national soccer stadium in Lisbon.
