IPTV Growth Outpacing Cable and Satellite TV

San Jose, Calif., February 27, 2012 — The new IPTV forecast from MRG, Inc. indicates that the number of global IPTV subscribers will grow from 53 million in 2011 to 105.1 million in 2015, a CAGR of 18.7%.The service revenue for the global IPTV market was US$21.8 billion in 2011 and is projected to grow to US$45.3 billion in 2015, a CAGR of 20%. By 2015, Europe and North America will continue to generate a larger share of the global revenue.

IDATE Estimates the market for OTT Video Services to Reach EUR 3.4 billion in 2015

Mobile Video Exceeded 50 percent of Global Internet Traffic for the first time in 2011

San Jose, Calif. February 14, 2012--Mobile video exceeded 50 percent of global internet trafficfor the first time in 2011 according to the latest The Cisco® Visual Networking Index (VNI) Global Mobile Data Traffic Forecast Update.  Global mobile data traffic grew 2.3-fold in 2011, more than doubling for the fourth year in a row. The 2011 mobile data traffic growth rate was higher than anticipated. Last year's forecast projected that the growth rate would be 131 percent. In-Flight Broadband Deployments to Surpass 6,100 Planes in 2015

Hilversum, The Netherlands, February 1, 2012--Global research among 927 satellite professionals by Skybrokers International shows that only 7% prefer 'only new' and 32% primarily new equipment. The majority prefers 'only used' 18% and primarily used (43%) equipment. According to Walter van der Plas, CEO of Skybrokers, the research shows that satellite professionals are cutting costs by trimming their purchasing budgets in order to survive a declining market.

Global Telecom Industry Revenue to Reach $2.7 Trillion by 2017

Hartford, Conn., January 30, 2012--The global telecommunications industry continues to expand as spending by consumers and businesses for wireless services fuels industry revenue growth, says a new market analysis report from The Insight Research Corporation. According to the new industry market study, telecommunications services revenue on a worldwide basis will grow from $2.1 trillion in 2012 to $2.7 trillion in 2017 at a combined average growth rate of 5.3 percent.

100 Million Hybrid STBs to Ship in 2015

Telco Pay-TV Subscribers Approaching 100 million

Washington, D.C., January 23, 2012--New data from TeleGeography show that at the end of Q3 2011 telcos worldwide had a total of 94 million pay-TV subscribers, giving them a 12% share of the global pay-TV market. Given current growth rates the subscriber total will be passing the 100-million milestone as this article is being written. Leading the telco charge is America Movil with ten million pay-TV subscribers, thanks to a dominant market position in Brazil and Colombia and substantial pay-TV operations in several other Latin American countries. It is followed by China Telecom and Rostelecom, both of which focus solely on their home markets, and France Telecom-Orange which has pay-TV operations in Poland, Spain and Slovakia in addition to being one of the leaders in the French market.
