Global Connectable Devices Set to Grow at a 16.5% CAGR to More than 2.5B Units Shipped in 2017

Ooyala Releases Global Video Index for Q2 2013

Mountain View, Calif., September 17, 2013--The amount of online video we watch via our smartphones and tablets is set to double this year according to Ooyala's latest Global Video Index for the 2nd quarter 2013. Viewers using mobile phones are watching video content for longer with over half watching for 10 minutes or longer and one fifth watching for over an hour. Live streamed content is proving more popular than video on demand with almost double the viewing figures for second screen devices and 15 times the amount on desktops and laptops.

Earth Observation Opportunities Expected to Develop in Emerging Markets

Paris, France, September 11, 2013--According to Euroconsult’s latest research report,"Satellite-Based Earth Observation: Market Prospects to 2022," the number of Earth observation (EO) satellites launched by civil government and commercial entities is expected to more than double over the next decade to 360 satellites, translating into $35.8 billion in manufacturing revenues over 2013 to 2022, an 88% increase over the previous decade. New government and commercial entrants are anticipated, with organizations from 42 countries expected to have launched at least a first-generation EO satellite by 2022.

Wilmington, DE, September 3, 2013 – NSR’s Global Assessment of Satellite Supply & Demand, 10th Edition report, released today, projects commercial satellite operator revenues from transponder and bandwidth leasing will top US$18.8 billion in the coming ten years, up from US$11.2 billion in 2012. This strong growth comes from a mix of C, Ku and widebeam Ka-band transponder leasing gains in such diverse markets as DTH, video distribution and VSAT networking, generating some US$4.5 billion in new revenues by 2022. LCD TV Growth Strong in China, as Demand in Developed Regions Declines

Santa Clara, California, September 3, 2013 — According to the latest findings published in the NPD DisplaySearch Quarterly Global TV Shipment and Forecast Report, Q2‘13 overall worldwide TV shipments were down 3% Y/Y, though LCD TV shipments managed to grow 4% Y/Y. The overall trend in total shipments, while still negative, is showing some improvement from last year, with LCD TV shipments posting slight growth over the past two quarters. China continues to be a catalyst for global LCD TV shipment growth, though Q2’13 growth was likely the result of industry incentives.

Emerging Markets Opt for Smart TVs at Greater Rate than Mature Markets According to NPD DisplaySearch

Santa Clara, Calif., August 29, 2013—According to the NPD DisplaySearch Quarterly Smart TV Usage Study, consumers in emerging markets are twice as likely as those in mature markets to purchase an internet-enabled smart TV in the coming 12 months. When asked about their planned TV purchases, 71% of consumers in Brazil, China, and other emerging markets reported they were likely to purchase a smart TV in the next 12 months, compared to just 37% of TV consumers in France, the UK, and other mature markets.

MSS Operators Generated Revenues of US$ 1.5 Billion in 2012

Paris, France, August 27, 2013 – Euroconsult announced the latest findings of the Mobile Satellite Service industry in the 4th edition of their research report, "Mobile Satellite Communications Markets Survey: Prospects to 2022." According to the report, the active MSS terminal base grew at a CAGR of 10% over the past five years with over 2.9 million active MSS terminals deployed on a global basis in 2012. Revenues generated by the six active MSS operators stood at around $1.5 billion in 2012. The industry remains very concentrated with the leading three operators, Inmarsat, Iridium and Thuraya still accounting for close to 90% and Inmarsat alone having a market share of 55%.

Amid Strong Competition Smart Set-top Boxes Continue to Grow
