Comtech EF Data has been awarded US$ 1.0 million in follow-on equipment orders from a Mobile Network Operator (MNO) in Africa in the three months to the end of April. The equipment will be used for a network upgrade that will transport and optimize voice and data communications, and facilitate subscriber growth across the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Spanish satellite communications operator HISPASAT will provide satellite capacity for MEO Ultra HD’s live broadcast in Ultra High Definition (UHD) of the soccer match pitting Portugal against Greece on May 31. This match, in the run up to the World Cup to be held in Brazil this summer, will be sent out live from the national soccer stadium in Lisbon. 

New Indonesian prepaid Direct-To-Home (DTH) satellite service VIVA+ will deploy Newtec equipment to deliver all of its content, initially consisting of two HD and 35 SD channels.

The DTH platform, which launched in April 2014 to coincide with the World Cup, is featuring nine premium value ‘Ultimate World Cup Channels’ dedicated to broadcasting the upcoming World Cup taking place in Brazil between June 12th and July 13th.
