MSTelcom, a telecommunications company and leader in satellite communication based in Angola is fighting against the digital divide in rural Africa, providing connectivity to rural Angola. MSTelcom has successfully deployed a large network across Angola supported by ST Engineering iDirect’s Evolution platform.

Building upon an earlier agreement reached in the middle of the year, HISPASAT, the Spanish satellite telecommunications operator, has finalized a new agreement with Altán in Mexico to significantly increase the cellular backhaul services to expand its cellular network. This way, the Amazonas 5 satellite will provide Altán coverage in the Ka-band to connect 665 new base stations from its Red Compartida which are added to the 65 stations in the original proposal. All told these stations provide a total of approximately 4 Gbps of satellite connectivity.

WORK Microwave, a leading European manufacturer of advanced satellite communications equipment, today announced that it has delivered the first set of Ka-band up- and downconverters to the European Space Agency's (ESA) European Space Operations Center for deep space antennas. The deep space converters are optimized for telemetry, tracking, and command operations of different categories of ESA missions, with signals crossing more than 1.4 billion km of space.

Managing new business challenges should encompass the entire satellite workflow and make it far easier to set up satellite antennas, reduce operator fails/ issues and ensure entire networks are continuously and automatically monitored. Integrasys has already worked and continues to do so, with a few satellite operators to drastically reduce running costs through better tools for installation and monitoring. Yet, there is one area that remains very tricky complicated and that is the process of buying and selling satellite capacity.
