The World Teleport Association (WTA) today announced the winners of the 26th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence during an exclusive reception at SATELLITE 2021. The awards are presented each year to organizations and individuals in the teleport industry whose achievements have been deemed exceptional by the international trade association and its awards committees, made up of industry members from across the globe.

The 2021 recipients are:

ABS, a global satellite operator, in partnership with iSAT Africa, a leading satellite solution provider, announced the launch of managed data services on ABS-3A satellite. It will be operating on the ST Engineering iDirect Newtec Dialog^® platform for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.

Terrasat Communications, a leader in Radio Frequency (RF) solutions for satellite communication systems, announced that is has receive two contract awards valued at US$ 21 million.  The first award for an High Throughput Satellite (HTS) provider will replace aging TWTA amplifiers with Terrasat’s new high-powered phase combined IBUC’s Intelligent Block Up Converters (IBUC’s).

An up and coming  company is leveraging the  transformative technology of High Altitude Platforms  (HAP) to bridge the digital divide and provide broadband services for various vertical market applications   at a shorter time-to-market deployment and lower costs. AVEALTO Ltd., a UK-based company formed to design, build and operate a fleet of HAP vehicles which can transparently replace point-to-point satellite services at a lower cost, with higher quality service has began customer acquisition activities.  

AXESS Networks (AXESS) a global provider of encompassing connectivity solutions via satellite has been chosen by ARAB Satellite Communications Organization (ARABSAT) to provide connectivity and teleport services on Appendix 30BC-Band space segment on-board its ARABSAT-5A Satellite at an orbital location of 30.5°E with coverage footprint across Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

-Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced today, that during its fourth quarter of fiscal 2021, it was awarded multiple contracts aggregating $3.6 million from a U.S. system integrator for X-band SSPAs and BUCs for transportable satellite communication terminals.

Mission Microwave Technologies, LLC, a manufacturer of highly efficient Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPAs) and Block Upconverters (BUCs) continues to receive new and follow-on orders for its 200 watt Titan BUCs for use in a variety of satellite constellations. Mission Microwave’s terminal integrator customers have been deploying the Ka-Band Titan BUC in volume since 2017. Titan Ka-band BUC orders placed and scheduled for delivery in 2021 exceed US$ 8 million.

HISPASAT, Grupo Red Eléctrica's communications satellite operator, has begun a pilot project with Correos to give satellite connectivity to certain offices located in places where Internet access is problematic. The pilot will initially be run in six locations - three in Zamora (Santa Cristina de la Polvorosa, Fermoselle and Coreses), two in Teruel (Valdealgolfa and Mosqueruela) and one in Soria (Duruelo de la Sierra) - and may be rolled out to the company's other rural service points that have connectivity issues.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL), announced today, that during its fourth quarter of fiscal 2021, its subsidiary Comtech EF Data Corp., a leading provider of satellite communications equipment was awarded a multi-million dollar order for WAN optimization equipment from a leading system integrator in South Asia. The equipment will be utilized by a Ministry of Defense (MoD) in the region.       

he Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications (Intersputnik) and the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC) signed today  an Agreement on Cooperation in Using Frequency Assignments in the Geostationary Orbit and Other Satellite Orbits for the Implementation of the Project on the Joint Use of Satellite Capacity.
