The World Teleport Association (WTA) today announced the winners of the 28th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence during an exclusive awards ceremony at SATELLITE 2023. Comtech (NASDAQ: CMTL) recently secured multiple multi-million-dollar contracts for its ELEVATE platform to provide commercial and government customers with satellite cellular backhaul as well as telemetry data and video services over Low Earth Orbit and Geostationary Orbit constellations.

Under the contracts, Comtech will deliver up to 1,000 ELEVATE terminals this year to customers in six countries. Comtech ELEVATE is a platform designed to support multi-orbit constellations as well as the convergence of communications infrastructures.

WORK Microwave, a leading European manufacturer of advanced satellite ground station equipment for commercial and defense applications, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by a major operator of ground station networks to deliver a turn-key Digital Optical Ground station (DOG) for a US government program which requires secure and resilient optical space-to-ground communication via laser link. The ground network operator selected WORK Microwave, as they are a first-of-its-kind provider of turn-key optical ground stations and have proven their expertise at an early-phase optical ground station in Europe. 

Hispasat has launched three new innovation projects aimed at integrating terrestrial and satellite communications in the development of 5G-6G technologies. The objective is to ensure universal deployment of networks of this type so that they are also available in remote or less densely populated areas and even in maritime or aerial environments. It also standardizes the technological development of the satellite. The TRANTOR and 5G-STARDUST projects are funded by Horizon Europe and AROMA 3G is a national initiative.
