The eight Boeing [NYSE: BA] Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF has signaled controllers it is functioning properly after launching today, marking another step in the modernization of the satellite constellation that’s relied on by millions of people worldwide.

Arianespace has successfully launched two telecommunications satellites: Intelsat 30, which is hosting the DLA-1 Ku-band payload for DIRECTV Latin America, is designed to provide distribution services for DIRECTV Latin America in South America and the Caribbean and ARSAT-1, which features direct-to-home (DTH) TV broadcast payloads for Latin America.

Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ:CMTL) today reported its operating results for the fourth quarter and fiscal year ended July 31, 2014. Net sales for the fourth quarter and full year of fiscal 2014 were US$ 89.4 million and US$ 347.2 million, respectively, as compared to US$ 84.4 million and US $319.8 million for the same periods in fiscal 2013. The year-over-year increase reflects higher sales in the Company's telecommunications transmission and RF microwave amplifiers segments, partially offset by lower sales in its mobile data communications segment.

A new report from LS Telecom reveals a mobile and wireless industry that is driving hard to gain access to C-Band and other satellite frequencies for expansion of its services while leaving 30% of its existing allocated spectrum unused in most regions of the world.

MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd., a communications and information company, has announced that it has closed the acquisition of Advanced Systems, a line of business from General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, Inc., originally announced last July. This business will become part of MDA Information Systems LLC.
