Comtech Telecommunications Corp Awarded $6.9 Million of Orders for High Power Amplifiers and Switches

MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 22, 2008--Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (NASDAQ: CMTL) announced  that its Melville, New York-based subsidiary, Comtech PST Corp., has received $6.9 million of orders from a domestic prime contractor to supply broadband, solid state, high power radio signal jamming amplifiers and switches.

Mobile Satellite Ventures Plans Extension of Current Generation Satellite Services Through 2011 on Forthcoming Next-Generation C

RESTON, Va., Jan. 21, 2008--Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV)announced plans to extend its current generation network voice and mobile data services through 2011 on its next generation hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network slated to be launched in 2010.

New Video Channels Continue to be Main Growth Driver for Satellite Capacity

In its recently released study covering the entire commercial satellite transponder leasing sector, NSR projects that worldwide carriage of new standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) channels for all categories of television services will account for between 75% and 85% of C- and Ku-band transponder demand growth in most regions around the world. NSR projects in its Global Assessment of Satellite Demand, 4th Edition (GASD) report that approximately 1,750 additional SD channels and another 150 HD channels will be placed on commercial C- and Ku-band satellite payloads every year for the six-year period between 2006 and 2012. In fact, DTH services alone will contribute nearly 4,000 SD channels and just fewer than 500 HD channels by 2012 according to NSR’s latest industry forecasts.

IPTV uptake is increasing on a global scale as telcos develop compelling multi-play offerings to compete with cable and satellite operators. Infrastructure upgrades and strategic alliances between major industry players have enabled tier two and tier three telcos to deliver IPTV, leading to significant growth in rural markets. IMS Research forecasts that by 2012, over 52 million pay-TV subscribers worldwide will have adopted IPTV service with IP STB shipments growing nearly 30% annually during this time period.

Thuraya-3 Satellite Successfully Launched to Orbit by Sea Launch

Long Beach, Calif., January 15 2008 – The third Geo-mobile satellite of Abu Dhabi-based Thuraya Satellite Telecom Co. has been successfully launched by Sea Launch, January 15. Lifting off at 11:49 GMT from the Odyssey Launch Platform at 154 degrees West Longitude, the Zenit-3SL rocket placed the 5,173 kg (11,381 lb) Thuraya-3 satellite manufactured by Boeing into geosynchronous transfer orbit. Spacecraft separation occurred 99 minutes after liftoff, at 1,388 miles above the Pacific Ocean, north of New Zealand. All systems performed nominally throughout the flight, according to Sea Launch.

Norsat Appoints CFO

Vancouver, British Columbia. January 2, 2008 – Satellite solutions provider Norsat International Inc. appointed Eugene G. Syho as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) of the company, effective January 21, 2008.
