Jan Koeppen Named President of FOX International Channels Europe and Africa

Los Angeles,Calif. April 2, 2014--Jan Koeppen, who has served as Chief Operating Officer for 21st Century Fox, Europe and Asia since April 2009, has been named President of Europe and Africa for FOX International Channels, a 21st Century Fox subsidiary. 

Koeppen, who will begin his new role in April, will be based in London and assumes P&L responsibility for the 94 television and online services in 88 countries that make up FIC’s portfolio across Europe and Africa. FIC Europe and Africa’s revenues exceed $1 billion and include leading channel brands FOX, FOX Sports, Fox Life and National Geographic Channel and JV’s including EMM in The Netherlands. FIC is the world’s most diversified international channel group serving over 1.625 billion homes, and operating out of 64 offices, of which 25 are in Europe and Africa.

Koeppen has served as COO, Europe and Asia, 21st Century Fox for the last five years. In that role he oversaw the group’s portfolio of wholly- and majority-owned operating companies, including pay-TV operators Sky Italia and Sky Deutschland, equity affiliates BSkyB and Tata-Sky and pay and broadcast TV units Star India and FOX Turkey. His long roster of accomplishments include the completion of 32 transactions and major restructurings for the group in Europe and Asia, including the creation of Star India as a stand alone operation, the majority stake acquisition of Sky Deutschland, the integration of Star channels outside of India into FIC Asia and the sale of multiple non-strategic minority and majority investments. Mr. Koeppen also serves on the Boards of Directors of Sky Deutschland, a publicly-traded, majority-owned business unit of 21st Century Fox, Tata Sky and Fox Turkey.

Prior to joining 21st Century Fox, Mr. Koeppen held a variety of posts with The Boston Consulting Group, one of the world’s leading global management consulting firms, including his most recent role of Partner and Managing Director at the firm’s London branch. Mr. Koeppen holds a Master’s of Management from Hautes Etudes Commerciales (H.E.C.) in Paris and a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The George Washington University in Washington D.C.
