Leading International Experts Discuss Content Monetization Trends at GS Summit-2014

St. Petersburg, Russia, November 26, 2014--The second International GS Summit of leading experts in telecommunications held November 18-19, 2014 in St. Petersburg, Russia, discussed content monetization trends.Over one hundred delegates from France, Great Britain, Finland, Russia, Cambodia, China, India, Pakistan and other countries participated in the event organized by the GS Group, an investment and industry holding company, 

The International GS Summit is intended to become a platform for experts to communicate and exchange experiences among representatives of leading telecommunications companies from around the world. This year organizers invited content providers and technological solutions providers to take part in the Summit, where everyone found the issue of commercialized broadcasting projects in a highly competitive and saturated market as one of the most urgent topics. More than one hundred industry experts discussed various ways to increase ARPU through content monetization and the implementation of additional subscriber services. Key speakers included representatives of GS Group, Tricolor TV, Exset, Multi Channels Asia, Ericsson, Cable Media Group Pakistan, MStar Corporation and others.

During the first part of the Summit, GS Group experts presented the holding company experience in implementing international broadcasting projects, in particular the success story of the One TV broadcast platform in Cambodia. Summit participants were able to estimate on their own the proven and successful way to generate profits through the use of local video content of in-house production as the main driver of sales.

The second part of the event was devoted to key strategies for telecommunications development, Pay TV and evolving systems for content delivery. In addition, representatives of foreign content providers unveiled features of various Pay TV platforms, demand for national video content in local markets and factors influencing the user when choosing content.

The GS Group strategic partner and second largest DTH operator in the world, Tricolor TV claimed dependence of the Pay TV operators’ profitability on content policy. Speakers also dedicated presentations to opportunities of second screen usage, Ultra HD and the TV digitalization in new markets. In general, attendees of the GS Summit were able to have all their questions related to the policy of content monetization answered.

On the 19th of November, GS Summit delegates participated in three-dozen business meetings where they were able to discuss questions touched upon in the reports and to reach mutually beneficial agreements.

One of the GS Group objectives at the Summit was to discuss potential cooperation in the global market. "At the second GS Summit we highlighted the features of implementing international broadcasting projects, the challenges encountered and ways of addressing complex problems, both technical and administrative by nature. Today we introduced a theoretical point of view on ways for potential cooperation but also shared experiences of working with local partners on specific examples from GS Group," – Sergey Dolgopolskiy, GR, PR and IR Director, Foreign projects, GS Group.

The GS Summit held in St. Petersburg, Russia was the second event organize by the GS Group holding company. The first summit took place in 2012 at the innovation cluster Technopolis GS (the town of Gusev, Kaliningrad region, Russia) and brought together global leaders from 15 countries in telecommunications.
