Euroconsult to Hold First Latin American Satellite Communications and Broadcasting Summit

Paris, France,  January, 31, 2014 – Euroconsult, a consulting firm specialized in satellite communications and broadcasting, announced the launch of LATSAT – the Latin American Satellite Communication & Broadcasting Summit. The first edition will be taking place in Mexico City on June 4-5 2014. LATSAT is also supported by the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes (Mexico’s Ministry of Communication and Transport).

The summit is to be the first executive meeting place dedicated to the Latin American satellite communications sector, where stakeholders can discuss local and global market issues, network, discuss evolutions in the sector and do business with national and regional counterparts.

When asked about the impact the summit would have on the market,  Steve Bochinger, COO of Euroconsult, said “Latin America has experienced strong growth in recent years in terms of satellite procurement, capacity usage and satellite services and the Mexican government in particular has strong ambitions for its national space and communications program. It is therefore essential for this region to develop a central business place where the future of the sector can be discussed and defined. With the LATSAT summit we aim to develop a reference event for Latin America based on a similar model to our flagship event, the World Satellite Business Week, which is renowned for its high-level networking and deal making opportunities.”

Commenting on the event, Jorge A. Juraidini Rumilla General Director of Telecomm stated that, "SCT, through Telecomunicaciones de México (Telecomm) is delighted to support (and participate in) the development of the 1st “Latin American Satellite and Broadcasting Summit”. Given its nature, we believe that such a high profile gathering of public and private sector decision makers will generate significant business opportunities in the region. Furthermore, it will promote the key role of satellites in enhancing communications and bridging the connectivity gap in Latin America.”

The two-day event will comprise a high-level program of keynote speeches and thematic executive-level round tables featuring government officials and industry executives. The sessions will cover all levels of the satellite communications value chain and be moderated by high level industry experts. The ALSAT summit will bring together over 100 senior executive participants representing government and public agencies as well as broadcasters, satellite operators, service providers, satellite manufacturers, etc.
